Nuke the fridge

The point at which a film demonstrates itself to be of inferior quality to previous instalments.

Coined following the release of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008), which featured a scene where the hero survives a nuclear explosion by hiding inside a refrigerator. The scene was considered so preposterous that fans decreed it the moment that the franchise had lost all credibility. A movie equivalent of jump the shark.
